The ITI launches Diploma in Implant Dentistry

The ITI (International Team for Implantology) has launched its first credentialing program, the ITI Diploma in Implant Dentistry, a further building block in its broad program to support life-long learning for professionals in the field.
The ITI Diploma is a structured program for experienced professionals who would like to validate their proficiency in implant dentistry. It takes participants through a process based on eight clinical case submissions and an oral examination. Awarded by the ITI, an internationally recognized leader in evidence-based implant dentistry education, the ITI Diploma testifies to the holder’s professional competence.
In line with the organization’s reputation for scientific rigor combined with concern for the welfare of patients, the ITI Diploma process is challenging. It therefore also represents an opportunity to demonstrate an internationally recognized level of competence in implant-related treatment. The program centers on the skills of the clinician in combination with evidence-based treatment protocols towards predictable, long-term stable outcomes.
“The ITI Diploma in Implant Dentistry fits in ideally with the ITI’s purpose to engage and inspire the global dental profession to strive for excellence in implant dentistry,” said Merete Aaboe, Chair of the ITI Board of Studies. “It perfectly complements the ITI Curriculum at foundation and intermediate level along with the ITI’s broad offering that all aim to cover the education needs of professionals from beginner to expert.”
The program is open to professionals with at least 3 years’ experience of placing and/or restoring implants who are able to document clinical cases. An entry exam is required for all candidates who do not hold the ITI Curriculum Intermediate level certificate. A short pre-test on the ITI website provides an idea of the kind of questions asked in the entry exam.
