There is still some way to go to reduce the prevalence of periodontitis among the UK population. When a patient presents with periodontal disease, a team approach is often most effective for both preventing disease progression and managing their symptoms. The British Society of Periodontology has published a UK version of the European Federation of Periodontology’s S3 Treatment Guidelines for periodontitis. The aim of the document is to improve the quality of periodontal treatment delivered and support the systemic health of the UK population.
