Learning. It’s an essential and unavoidable part of life for all. For the modern dental professional, it is also the key to job satisfaction for a long and successful career. As life in the dental practice begins to find rhythm again, getting your personal goals back on track should be the next priority.

For instance, are you interested in acquiring the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to effectively deliver implant treatment within your surgery? This can be a highly rewarding field of dentistry that offers many opportunities to advance your capabilities and broaden the patient services you offer. To do it right, you need high-quality instruction, clinically proven products and the dedication needed to grow this side of your business. Selecting the best training programme from the many currently available in the UK market is the first and one of the most important steps.

Have you heard of the PG Cert in Implant Dentistry delivered through Ucer Education? If you have, you’ll already know the quality and support associated with the course. If you don’t, it could be just the opportunity you’re looking for. The next course is set to commence on 25th May, having been rearranged due to COVID-19.

Unmatched instruction

The PG Cert in Implant Dentistry concludes in an official level 7 qualification awarded by EduQual. To ensure it fulfils all the requirements of the GDC / FGDP(UK) Training Standards in Implant Dentistry (TSID, 2016) and supports the latest Standards in Implant Dentistry, it is delivered by a selection of highly respected tutors and instructors. Leading the team is

Specialist Oral Surgeon, Professor Cemal Ucer. He alone is a Professor and Clinical Lead of the MSc programme in Dental Implantology and a Fellow of the Faculty of Dental Trainers of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as well as a member of the Faculty of Examiners of the RCSEd Diploma in Implant Dentistry. He is also a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology and a Past President and Honorary Life member of the Association of Dental Implantology.

Content and format

The 12-month, modular programme has always taken a blended learning approach, making it more convenient for clinicians to work around their practice and family commitments. It has also made it simpler to create a Covid-safe learning environment for delegates moving forward.

Clinicians have the opportunity to develop their theoretical knowledge and practical skills during training, ensuring they have the capabilities to place and restore a range of simple to moderate dental implant cases. What’s more, the course is somewhat unique in that it provides multi-system instruction, with implant solutions from Neoss, Megagen and TRI Implants taught during practical sessions. Working with an array of industry-leading providers, the programme also utilises Ethoss, Geistlich and Zimmer Biomet biomaterials to give delegates a well-rounded learning experience.

Facilities

As if the instruction and format of the course weren’t enough, it is also provided using the unparalleled facilities of the ICE Postgraduate Dental Institute and Hospital in Salford Quays, Manchester. It consists of seven surgeries, a dental laboratory, a fully equipped operating theatre and day care surgery facilities, as well as a team of consultant anaesthetists and all the appropriate medical staff. There is also an advanced diagnostic centre featuring the complete digital workflow with a Morita CBCT machine, Trios and Cerec intraoral scanners, 3D printers and the latest digital treatment planning software.

Further enriching the learning experience are the interactive lecture rooms and webinar facilities. This gives delegates the perfect view while watching live surgical procedures from the in-house surgeries, demonstrating the calibre of teaching facilities for the PG Cert in Implant Dentistry.

Support

Importantly, tuition does not stop once the 12 months are up. Mentoring is an important element of this course with Ucer Education and clinicians have access to on-going support once the programme is complete. If you have questions about a particular case, if you’re looking to build your portfolio or if you’re looking to further progress your skills after an appropriate amount of time, there will be help available to you. In fact, the PG Cert is just the first step for many dentists in their implant career as it provides a solid foundation for those wishing to advance onto the Diploma in Implant Dentistry examination of the Royal College of Surgeons, or an MSc in Dental Implantology.
