The BACD Aesthetic and Digital Dentist Theatre will be one of various highly anticipated features of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show 2020. It will present an array of esteemed professionals with a keen passion for achieving the very best functional and aesthetic results for patients in a wide range of clinical indications.

Dr Abid Faqir, immediate past president of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI), will be taking to the podium to discuss how clinicians can improve the predictability and aesthetic quality of the dental implant treatment they provide.

“I am looking forward to my first speaking engagement with the BACD,” he says. “It is a very well-established, well-respected organisation and it consistently delivers quality education through events such as this.

“During my session, I will look at how we can use digital dentistry to give patients predictable and highly aesthetic implant solutions. I will cover topics like immediate implants, digital planning, surgical guides for placing implants and immediate restorations.”

As Abid goes on to consider, there are several challenges that dentists face when striving for optimal outcomes in this treatment area:

“The predictability of implant outcomes is a major challenge for clinicians. In addition, patients today have very high aesthetic demands and meeting their expectations can be tricky in some situations. I will therefore look at how the immediate dental implant concept, combined with digital planning and digital surgical guides, can help to make both the surgical and restorative phases of treatment more predictable. When performed correctly, these steps can also help clinicians manage patient expectations.

“I hope to demonstrate the digital protocol to delegates, showing how technologies can improve the implant process. For dentists already using these techniques, I will offer some hints and tips to get the very best results. For anyone not already familiar with the concepts discussed, I aim to show how they can remove barriers and introduce predictable implant solutions into their own practices.”

The British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show 2020 will offer many opportunities for delegates to improve their knowledge and skills, with different lecture theatres catering to each dental discipline. The extensive trade exhibition will also host more than 450 manufacturers and suppliers, so delegates can access all the latest products, materials and technologies on the market, while also networking with colleagues from across the industry.

“I am looking forward to the event, which is one of the biggest of the year,” adds Abid. “There is a vast array of speakers offering up-to-date education and a wealth of information to take back to practice and start treating patients in a more engaging way.”
