The British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show will now take place 13th-14th May 2022 at Birmingham NEC

CloserStill Media, organisers of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show, have made the carefully considered decision to postpone the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show (BDCDS) to May 2022.

The event will now take place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May 2022 at the Birmingham NEC, hall 5.

Martin Woodrow, Chief Executive of the BDA commented: “As we are all aware, the COVID-19 situation in England is continually developing, and after careful consideration, the decision to reschedule feels appropriate given current circumstances and ongoing uncertainty. However, I have no doubt that the 2022 conference will be the biggest, best and most impressive event yet!”

In the meantime, CloserStill Media will be focusing on how they can support the profession as they continue to work through this, very challenging time for dentistry.

“Over the past few months, we have been diligently assessing the landscape of the return of in-person events for the dentistry community,” said Alex Harden, Event Director BDCDS at CloserStill Media. “This decision has been made due to the lack of clarity around future government restrictions on large scale gatherings due to COVID-19 and the fact that the safety of our communities is of upmost importance to us. Our team is more devoted than ever to creating engaging, practical resources for continuing education and industry growth in a digital world. Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times and we trust you and your families are safe and well.”

Dentology, powered by Henry Schein, successfully debuts

On 29 and 30 January 2021, “Dentology – powered by Henry Schein” set stage on a new era of educational and informative live online events around the digitalisation of dentistry, to be followed by four weeks of access to on-demand digital education.

Henry Schein´s first fully virtual symposium was a wealthy source of content offering comprehensive insights into the fast-changing world of digital dentistry. A renowned selection of 14 international experts delivered cutting-edge educational content on topics ranging from the digital workflow, digital implantology and orthodontics, to the recognition of digital pathology. Answers to questions like how to best start with digital, how to make the most of the intraoral scanner, and how to use digitalisation for customer communication are only few samples of the variety and focus of topics discussed. After the presentations, participants and experts continued the conversation by engaging in live discussions and questions and answer sessions.

Keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. Irena Sailer (Switzerland) and Dr. Simon Chard (UK). In their lectures, they explained the impact that digitalisation has had on dentistry and gave an outlook on the future of digitalisation in dentistry as well as inspiring inputs on possibilities in patient communication with social media. In addition, 12 experts from eight countries shared their extraordinary expertise with the participants. Among them were Wouter Reybrouck (Belgium), Dr. Jacques Vermeulen and Dr. Christian Moussally (France), Dr. Ole Schmitt and Dr. Andreas Kurbad (Germany), Stefano Negrini and Dr. Mauro Fazioni (Italy), Prof. Dr. Guillermo Pradiés and Dr. Ferran Llansana (Spain), Prof. Dr. Daniël Wismeijer (The Netherlands), Dr. Ian Buckle (UK) and Dr. Katya Archambault (USA).

Dentology’s Special Guest was Randi Zuckerberg, daughter of the dentist, Edward Zuckerberg, and former director of market development and spokesperson for Facebook, a company her brother Marc co-founded. She was named as one of the “50 Digital Power Players” by “Hollywood Reporter”. With her lively and inspiring speech with anecdotes from her own career and the resulting incredible successes, she provided informative input on topics such as business optimisation and efficiency in practice.

Dentsply Sirona will not take part in the International Dental Show (IDS) in March 2021

Taking into account all the different factors for its customers and employees and following intensive discussions, Dentsply Sirona has decided the Company will not attend the International Dental Show (IDS), scheduled to be held from March 9th to 13th, 2021 in Cologne, Germany. This also applies to Dentsply Sirona brands VDW, MIS and Zhermack.

Charlotte/Bensheim, July 28th, 2020. Current estimates indicate that the expected restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2021 will almost certainly not allow the proximity and depth of consultation that Dentsply Sirona and its customers know and value.

In particular, this environment would mean that customer meetings, interactions and consultations would not have their usual quality. Dentsply Sirona also believes that travel conditions will result in significantly fewer national and, especially, international visitors attending the IDS. The company puts the safety of its customers and employees first when making these types of decisions.

Walter Petersohn, Chief Commercial Officer at Dentsply Sirona, says, “It was a difficult decision to make, but much of what makes the IDS and its unique dynamics what they are, will not be possible in March 2021 because of the conditions we expect due to COVID-19. We would not be able to provide our customers and visitors with their usual experience at the show at this time. The same applies to the quality that they expect of Dentsply Sirona. We trust that the situation will change in due course, and we already look forward to taking part in the next IDS.”
