Private practice in Lancashire makes sale through the help of Clarke Willmott

National law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has assisted dentists Matthew Richards and Phil Schofield to sell their Lancashire-based private dental practice, Richards and Schofield Dental Practice, trading as Smilesite Ltd.

The surgery in Fishergate Hill, Preston, has been providing all aspects of modern dentistry to local people, from the simplest to the most complex, since 1990. The practice was sold for an undisclosed sum.

Helen Wong, MBE, partner in Clarke Willmott’s corporate team in Manchester, who specialises in the dental sector, acted on behalf of the vendor and was assisted by solicitor, Sarah Bennett. Jonathan Watson of Christies brokered the transaction.

“Working with Phil and Matthew in the sale of their practice was a joy and I am delighted that this sale is now complete,” said Helen.

“Phil is staying on as an associate so it was imperative, we maintained good relations with the purchaser and his solicitors all the way through the disposal. There are so many facets to a transaction but our forte is excellent project management and protecting our clients.” Helen and her team also assisted Matt with his de-registration as a registered manager with the CQC.

Matthew Richards described Helen and her team as “very efficient, pro-active, and available at all times for help and reassurance”.

Clarke Willmott specialises in corporate transactions including dental surgeries, opticians, vets, nurseries, pharmacies, care homes (residential and domiciliary) and GP surgeries.

“The demand for high-turnover practices like this is still exceptionally keen despite the impact of Brexit on dentistry and the impending new NHS contract,” added Helen.

Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with seven offices across the country including Manchester.
