New owners for exceptional private dental practice in Sheffield

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of one80 Dental in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

one80 Dental is an outstanding private dental practice with an excellent clinical team offering a range of specialist treatments including implantology, endodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery. In addition to the four well-fitted surgeries, the practice houses a modern suite for lectures and training courses. It is ideally located in the affluent borough of Totley, approximately five miles southwest of Sheffield city centre.

The business was established by Dr Nigel and Zoe Rosenbaum in 2013 who have developed a reputation for providing caring dentistry in a beautiful, calm environment. The pair decided to sell the business to reduce responsibilities and find the right partner to continue their journey with.

Following a confidential sales process with Jonathan Watson at Christie & Co, the practice has been purchased by prosthodontics specialist, Deleep Basi, and general dentist, Jeevan Boyal.

Post-sale, Dr Rosenbaum will remain at the practice as an Associate, forming a collaboration with the buyers to continue the exceptional levels of dental care that have been provided for many years.

Dr Nigel Rosenbaum, former owner of one80 Dental, comments, “We are delighted to conclude the sale of our practice and look forward to working with the buyers. A complicated sale process was made as smooth as we could have possibly hoped for by Christie & Co.”

Deleep Basi and Jeevan Boyal, new owners of one80 Dental, comment, “We are very excited to take over one80. Now the focus is building on the excellent foundation that Nigel and Zoe have left us. We look forward to working to maintain one80 as a centre of excellence and referral centre.”

Jonathan Watson, Director – Dental at Christie & Co, comments, “I am delighted we have been able to source the perfect buyers for Nigel and Zoe who were extremely careful when choosing who they sold the practice to, given the exceptional reputation they have built up over many years. Whilst we’ve seen challenges in the industry over recent years, the market for high-quality private practices has never wavered and this is the latest example of the high demand we are experiencing.”

Since the early 1980s, the practice has served the local community with high-quality, routine dentistry, as well as more specialised treatments including Implants, Orthodontics and Endodontics.

The practice was previously owned by Dr Debbie Ganguli who decided to sell to pursue other interests and spend more time with family. It has been an incredible journey with lots of fond memories, but I now look forward to spending more time with family. I’ll of course miss staff members that have gone onto become good friends, but I’m sure they are in very capable new hands in Dr Sushma Rao.”

Cherry Trees Dental Practice has been purchased by first-time buyer, Dr Sushma Rao, who comments, “Having decided the time was right to take the next step in my career and become a practice owner, my husband and I viewed several practices. Kincardine’s only dental practice sold after 25 years of ownership

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Kincardine Dental Practice in Fife. Funding for the sale was sourced through Christie Finance.

Kincardine Dental Practice is a two surgery, mixed-income dental practice located in the small, traditional village of Kincardine on the north shore of the Firth of Forth in Fife, Scotland. The village has a population of approximately 2,830 people and, as there are no other practices in the village, Kincardine Dental Practice enjoys a dedicated and consistent patient base.

The business’s previous owner/Principle, Mrs Alison Hughes, joined the practice as an Associate in 1990 and later purchased the site in 1996. After over 30 years in the business, Mrs Hughes decided to sell to pursue a well-earned retirement.

She comments, “After purchasing the practice in May 1996, I refitted the reception area, re equipped the main surgery and subsequently fitted a second surgery, a dedicated Decontamination Room, and a computerised Practice Management System. This allowed the practice to grow, to take on an Associate, and to see more patients.

“I decided to sell the business and retire after 38 years of dentistry as I want to have new adventures with my husband whilst we still can! Joel at Christie & Co found a non-corporate buyer for the practice who I believe will continue to develop and grow the practice whilst maintaining its unique, friendly position within the community.”

Kincardine Dental Practice has been purchased by experienced dentist, Mr Charles Parsons. Having previously owned practices in both the UK and South Africa, Mr Parsons was keen to acquire a small dental practice in Scotland and views Kincardine Dental Practice as an ideal fit for him.

Joel Mannix, Business Agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “I couldn’t be happier with how this deal panned out. After several viewings in late 2019/early 2020 we were delayed by the pandemic but, amid the disruption, I introduced Dr Parsons who is a perfect fit for the practice, sharing a lot of the ethos that Dr Hughes has as well his willingness to engage with the community as the only dentist in the village. I wish Alison all the best in retirement and Charles the best in his future endeavours.”

Craig Dickson at Christie Finance, comments, “Charles is an experienced dentist well versed in all aspects of general dentistry and has only recently returned to the UK after living in South Africa for a number of years. I introduced the deal to a number of lenders with three offers received, which shows the benefit of using a specialist commercial broker! I wish him the very best moving forward.”

Kincardine Dental Practice was sold at an undisclosed price.

Ciao Paolo Dental Practice in Glasgow sold through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Ciao Paolo Dental Practice in Glasgow.

Ciao Paolo is a three-surgery, mixed income dental practice with approximately 2,500 registered patients. The practice is well established and offers significant scope for further potential including longer opening hours and the introduction of additional specialist treatments.

The practice is located on Crow Road in Jordanhill, an affluent area of the West End of Glasgow, just three and a half miles from the city centre. The area has excellent transport links and will benefit from nearby housing development plans.

The business has been run successfully by previous owner, Principal, Dr Paul Trevisan, since 2011 after it was established from squat. He decided to sell as he was looking for an exit strategy from practice ownership but wanted the flexibility to continue working post-sale.

Ciao Paolo Dental Practice has been purchased by Dr Radhika Baireddy, who plans to increase the services provided at the practice, thereby increasing the overall profitability.

Dr Trevisan comments, “Joel at Christie & Co introduced me to a range of interested parties based on my preferred buyer criteria. I’m very confident the new owner, Radhika Baireddy, is an excellent fit for our appreciative patient base and look forward to continuing to provide care for our patients.”

Dr Baireddy comments, “Being a first-time buyer, I was not sure if buying a practice during a pandemic was a good idea. However, my passion for owning my own practice has encouraged me to buy. I choose Ciao Paolo dental practice as Dr Trevisan was willing to continue working with me post-sale, and I felt he would be an excellent mentor for me for the business of dentistry.”

Joel Mannix, Business Agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “Paul and I began discussing the possibility of a sale a few years ago. We kept in touch and continued to discuss the markets until he felt the time was right to  sell his practice. After a short advertising period, in which we had over 40 enquires, we were able to hone in on a number of capable buyers. Paul was most keen on Radhika’s offer, particularly due to her being a first-time buyer, as it allowed him to hand over the reins of his practice but enabled him to work on to continue treating the patient base he had built over a decade. I’d like to wish Radhika all the very best with her first dental practice which I’m sure, with Paul’s expertise, will be a great success.”

Ciao Paolo Dental Practice was sold off an asking price of £385,000.

Portman Dental Care acquires Plymouth Orthodontics Ltd via Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Plymouth Orthodontics Limited to expanding dental group, Portman Dental Care.

Plymouth Orthodontics Limited, a specialist orthodontic practice in the popular Plymouth suburb of Mannamead, occupies a two-storey, former residential property. It has been owned by Principal, Dr Sanjay Kumar, since 2008 and has since been completely refurbished and maintained to a very high standard throughout.

He comments, “I’m extremely thrilled to have completed on the sale of my practice and am really looking forward to working as part of the Portman team, helping to grow the business in years to come. The sale process was very smooth and was managed extremely professionally by both Christie & Co and Andy Price at Portman.”

Christie & Co facilitates pair of freehold dental investments in under 7 weeks

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of a pair of freehold dental investments in Cumbria and Northumberland which took just seven weeks from launch to conclusion.

The properties occupy prominent trading positions in Wigton town centre in Cumbria and Darras Hall in Northumberland – the latter of which is generally regarded as the most expensive and exclusive area to live in the North East of England.

Both benefit from an exceptional healthcare covenant in Bupa Dental Care following their acquisition of the businesses in 2018. The freehold interests of the practices were owned by private landlords who decided to sell to release equity from their property portfolio and pursue other ventures.

The investments have been acquired by an experienced bank-funded dentist.

Jonathan Watson, Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “Despite a turbulent 12 months, the demand for UK real estate investment remains incredibly high compared with riskier equities in the market. Appetite in the needs-based healthcare sector is as strong as ever and there is particular focus on NHS dentistry as contracts are held in perpetuity.

“It was a pleasure to be involved in the sale of these two investment properties and refreshing to work with such a motivated purchaser who acquired both freeholds through a high-street lender in under two months.”

The freehold interests were sold off a guide price of £450,000 with the businesses unaffected.
