The British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show will now take place 13th-14th May 2022 at Birmingham NEC

CloserStill Media, organisers of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show, have made the carefully considered decision to postpone the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show (BDCDS) to May 2022.

The event will now take place on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May 2022 at the Birmingham NEC, hall 5.

Martin Woodrow, Chief Executive of the BDA commented: “As we are all aware, the COVID-19 situation in England is continually developing, and after careful consideration, the decision to reschedule feels appropriate given current circumstances and ongoing uncertainty. However, I have no doubt that the 2022 conference will be the biggest, best and most impressive event yet!”

In the meantime, CloserStill Media will be focusing on how they can support the profession as they continue to work through this, very challenging time for dentistry.

“Over the past few months, we have been diligently assessing the landscape of the return of in-person events for the dentistry community,” said Alex Harden, Event Director BDCDS at CloserStill Media. “This decision has been made due to the lack of clarity around future government restrictions on large scale gatherings due to COVID-19 and the fact that the safety of our communities is of upmost importance to us. Our team is more devoted than ever to creating engaging, practical resources for continuing education and industry growth in a digital world. Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times and we trust you and your families are safe and well.”

The British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show, as well as DTS, will take place 21st-22nd May 2021

CloserStill Media, organiser of the British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show (BDCDS), and the co-located Dental Technology Showcase (DTS), has taken the decision to postpone both events until 2021. The 2020 event will now take place on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of May 2021 at the Birmingham NEC in hall 5.

Martin Woodrow, Chief Executive of the BDA, commented: “It’s a real shame that we can’t hold what would have been an excellent conference and exhibition this year, but in the circumstances, postponing the 2020 event has to be the right thing to do and I’m sure the 2021 event will be bigger and better than ever!”

Meanwhile, DLA President Steve Campbell said: “Given the current situation, the DLA believe moving the show to May 2021 is the right thing to do and we support that decision, and really look forward to what will be a fantastic event for all involved!”

The event organisers in the meantime will be focusing on how they can support the profession as they prepare to return to their practice and resume some normality during a very testing time for dentistry.

Alex Harden, Event Director for both BDCDS and DTS, stated: “In difficult times like the one that affects us today across the globe, it is important to remember the primary objective of trade shows: a trade show is above all the opportunity for the market to meet, learn and collaborate together. The safety of our communities is of paramount importance. The events industry supports businesses of all sizes and the economy in general. BDCDS and DTS are part of this and we will overcome all obstacles so our annual meeting fulfils this mission, stronger together. We would like to thank you for your patience and continued support during these difficult times and trust you and your families are safe and well.”

A great buzz and valuable learning

Following a highly successful collaboration between the British Dental Conference and CloserStill Media, the British Dental Association and Dentistry Show 2018 has already received some amazing feedback.

Susie Sanderson OBE, President of the BDA, commented: “I thought the event had a great buzz about it and everyone I spoke to seemed to enjoy themselves enormously. This is important for me, as it demonstrates the coming together of dentistry. It’s something we previously achieved with the BDA Conference and I’m pleased that it has been perpetuated in the joint event. The collaboration of CloserStill Media and the BDA appeared to be greater than the sum of its parts, so we were really getting the best of both worlds.

“It was lovely to see the event busy the entire time. I learnt a huge amount from the sessions I chaired in the BDA Theatre, which were all full, with enthusiastic audiences that asked lots of questions. The speakers were very high quality and the theme was entirely appropriate for today’s dentistry. The Theatre delivered high class CPD that offered some very valuable learning for delegates.”

The British Dental Conference and Dentistry Show 2019 will take place on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May at the Birmingham NEC, co-located with DTS.
