Dental Protection is inviting dental professionals to a free, interactive webinar to explore the role of mindfulness in improving healthcare workers’ wellbeing, resilience and compassion.

The webinar, which will take place at 6pm on 10 November 2026, will explore the prevalence and impact of stress, burnout, and psychological distress among healthcare professionals, some of the underlying causes of these challenges, and discuss practical strategies to help address them.

The session will also explore mindfulness as an intervention for improving members’ wellbeing and resilience, and there will be an opportunity for discussion, questions, and sharing of experiences among attendees.

Speakers include Dr Umakant Dave, a published author on mindfulness, consultant physician/ gastroenterologist and honorary senior lecturer at Swansea University, UK, and Dr George Wright, Dental Director at Dental Protection.

Dr Yvonne Shaw, Underwriting Policy Lead at Dental Protection, said: “We see firsthand the impact that workplace stress, burnout and emotional turmoil has on the personal and professional lives of colleagues all over the world. Without early support, these issues can lead to dental professionals becoming disengaged, periods of ill-health, absence from work and even leaving dentistry altogether.

“We are pleased to be able to host this interactive webinar for our members, to identify some of the key factors that contribute to mental wellbeing issues among healthcare professionals, and explore the evidence supporting mindfulness as one way to help improve wellbeing and resilience.

“I would like to remind Dental Protection members who ever need wellbeing support to make use of our confidential counselling service which is a benefit of membership. Members can access telephone support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as face-to-face counselling sessions.”

Dental Protection members can log into their Learning Hub account to register for the webinar here: https://prism.medicalprotection.org/login/index.php.
