The Association of Dental Groups (ADG) is delighted to announce that Helen Paisley is to take on the role of Ambassador for Community Dentistry. Helen was previously a board director at the ADG and brings extensive experience as the CEO of Community Dental Services (CDS), a Community Interest Company which focuses on special care as well as paediatric and prison dentistry across much of the East of England, East Midlands and North Yorkshire. In addition to her clinical expertise, Helen brings an understanding of the oral health care needs of diverse populations. A core responsibility for Helen is engagement and relationship building with Integrated Care Boards around their oral health priorities championing primary dental care and community dental services.
Neil Carmichael, Executive Chair of the ADG, said: “We are delighted to welcome Helen to this important new role at the ADG. Community Dentistry is a core part of our association’s remit as we look to advocate for both dental professionals serving in this sector and the patients that they serve. We know that Helen will bring the insight and strategic depth that we need so that we can ensure dentistry stakeholders understand the challenges and opportunities specific to dentistry when it is provided in the community.
“I also want to thank Helen for her years of service as a highly valued and engaged board director at the ADG and we are delighted that she will continue to work closely with our team and members moving forward. The ADG is growing significantly and this year, as we celebrate our 15th anniversary and look ahead to the next 15 years, having Community Dentistry clearly in our vision is crucial to that journey.”
Helen Paisley, ADG Ambassador for Community Dentistry said: “I am delighted that the ADG has appointed me as its Ambassador for Community Dentistry. All my career I have been an advocate for the patients who require the care of community dental services and for the highly skilled dental professionals who work within this sector of dentistry. It is to the ADG’s great credit that it recognises the vital contribution of community dental services through this appointment.
“By ensuring that community dentistry has a dedicated voice, the ADG is helping make sure that the needs of our patients and workforce are clearly heard by policymakers, politicians, and the wider dental sector.”
Helen qualified as a dentist in 1984 and has had a long career in community dental services, treating patients with complex needs under sedation and general anaesthetic. She is passionate about ensuring people with additional needs receive the care they deserve.
