An upcoming webinar, hosted by the MPS Foundation, will share new findings from the international “Thrive at Work” study into the factors that most affect dentists’ wellbeing and the steps that can prevent stress and burnout before they take hold.
The research team behind the Thrive at Work project, which has been supported by the MPS Foundation, will also launch the new Thrive at Work Toolkit, co-designed with dentists, researchers and workplace health experts. It offers evidence-based resources across five levels: Individual, Group, Leader, Organisation and Outside Work.
The Protecting wellbeing in dentistry: Thriving at work webinar on 22 September 2026 is free to attend, and anyone can join. The webinar will be delivered by Thrive at Work project leads Professor Jo Yarker, Managing Partner at Affinity Health at Work and Dr Marleen Reinke, Senior Consultant at Affinity Health at Work, and will be chaired by Dr George Wright, Dental Director at Dental Protection and Board Member at the MPS Foundation.
Dr George Wright said: “I am proud that The MPS Foundation has been supporting this important project. Earlier stages of the Thrive at Work study found that many dental professionals have little access to guidance, training or wellbeing support, despite facing high workloads and sustained emotional demands. All this, coupled with little time for rest, can increase the risk of stress and burnout.
“Whether you’re a dentist, practice owner, manager or dental leader, this webinar offers practical insight into building a healthier, more sustainable working environment.”
The MPS Foundation, along with Dental Protection, is part of the wider Medical Protection Society. The Foundation was established by MPS in 2022 to fund research in dentistry and medicine aimed at improving patient safety and clinician wellbeing.
