It is with a very heavy heart that I announce that J&S Davis ceased trading on Friday 28th August 2026.
For over 100 years, J&S Davis has supplied the UK dental industry with a range of high-quality dental products, carefully sourced from across the globe. These brands and products covered restoration, endodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, implants and oral hygiene, as well as J&S Davis own brand Solo, which was one of the world’s first single use, disposable needle brands.
Over the years the business grew from strength to strength, with exciting, innovative products arriving frequently from suppliers, which were then sold, primarily through the dental retailers to dental care professionals.
Two years ago, our then largest supplier made the decision to change strategy, and with that, stopped working with J&S Davis, which resulted in a sudden loss of 40% of business. This was a huge hit, but we made the decision to work harder, find alternatives and do everything we could to plug the gap and find strategic ways to grow both new and existing business. Despite our best efforts and having exhausted all realistic sources of help, we had no choice but to make this difficult and sad decision.
I have so many fond memories of J&S Davis over the many years that I have been part of the business (my whole life). From starting as a youngster, helping my Father, to being Managing Director and having my son, Oliver, involved in the business, I have seen so many developments in products and technology within the industry.
To my colleagues, customers, suppliers and friends in the industry, I’d like to say thank you for your custom, advice and support over the years. It truly has been a pleasure.
To my team at J&S Davis, past and present, thank you for believing in our products. Thank you for creating a happy environment to work in and of course, thank you for your support over the years. There are so many fond memories that I will treasure, and I hope you do to.
Sadly, we have had to bring J&S Davis to a close, but the future of dentistry lives on. It fills me with immense pride to reflect on how J&S Davis has helped shape and influence the industry along the way.
