Dr David Edwards will be representing the British Endodontic Society (BES) at the upcoming Dentistry Show London this October. He describes what visitors to his talk can expect:

“I’m going to be talking at the London Dentistry Show on 10th October on behalf of the British Endodontic Society. The title of the talk is ‘Decision-Making in Endodontic Post-Treatment Disease: Retreat or Resect?’ The crux of the talk looks at why endodontic treatments fail and, if they have failed, is it possible to overcome those factors, and if it is possible, are we best to do an orthograde approach through retreatment, or should we be carrying out endodontic microsurgery to manage these cases?

“Obviously, there are lots of cases where an orthograde retreatment approach is appropriate, but quite often that can have a poor outcome, or even risk further iatrogenic damage.

“I’m going to talk through decision making between those two routes using various case examples that could have gone either way. I hope it will appeal to general dental practitioners and dentists with a special interest in endodontics as well.

“In addition, the British Endodontic Society (BES) will have a stand at the conference, so it will be really good if you want to pop along and find out a bit more about the society. It’s quite a small society, very friendly, and it will be really great to catch up with you. See you then!”
