Smile Together Community Interest Company (CIC), one of the South West’s largest providers of NHS referral and urgent dental care, has expanded its reach with the opening of a new NHS Dental Access Centre in Gloucester, while continuing to invest in improving access to urgent dental care across Cornwall.
The new Quayside Dental Centre opened on 1 July 2026 following a partnership with NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Gloucestershire County Council, representing an important milestone in Smile Together’s continued growth as a values-led, community-focused dental organisation.
The Centre has been developed to help improve access to urgent NHS dental care and stabilisation services for people across Gloucestershire, providing daytime, evening and limited weekend appointments in Gloucestershire accessed through NHS 111, or directly via the dental centre, alongside follow-up care where clinically required.
The opening marks the first time Smile Together has expanded its services beyond Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, bringing its community-focused approach to another area facing significant challenges accessing NHS dental services.
Smile Together continues to invest in Cornwall while expanding into Gloucestershire. The organisation opened its new dental practice in Falmouth in January 2026, followed by the opening of its Camborne practice in July 2026. Together, these recent investments have strengthened NHS dental provision across Cornwall and increased
access to urgent dental care for patients referred through the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Dental Helpline (0333 405 0290) and NHS 111.
The opening of these practices forms part of Smile Together’s ongoing commitment to improving access to care locally, ensuring communities across Cornwall continue to benefit from reliable NHS dental services while the organisation grows its impact across the wider South West.
As an employee-owned Community Interest Company and the UK’s first B Corp certified dental practice, Smile Together’s mission is to tackle oral health inequalities for healthier, happier communities.
The organisation’s expansion reflects its long-term strategy of carefully considered, values-led growth — using its experience delivering NHS dental services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to support more communities while continuing to invest in local services.
The new Gloucester centre includes seven individual treatment rooms and has been approved as an NHS Dental Foundation Training Practice, supporting the development of newly qualified dentists and contributing to the future sustainability of the NHS dental workforce.
Jasem Greval, Chief Executive Officer at Smile Together CIC, said:
“Opening our new Dental Access Centre in Gloucester is an exciting milestone for Smile Together and a fantastic opportunity to bring our community-focused approach to NHS dentistry to a new area.
“We are continuing to invest in services across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, including the opening of our Falmouth and Camborne practices to improve access to NHS dental care for local communities.
“Our ambition has always been about improving access to high-quality dental care and tackling oral health inequalities wherever there is a need. Growing into Gloucestershire allows us to share our experience and values with another community, while continuing to strengthen the services we provide in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly”
