Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Duddingston Park dental practice in Edinburgh.
Duddingston Park is a four-surgery, mixed-income dental practice that focuses on general dentistry, implants, and facial aesthetics. It is located in Duddingston Park South in Edinburgh.
The business has been owned by Abraham McCarthy since 2019 and was brought to market as part of a strategic portfolio review, allowing him to focus on his other business interests.
Following a confidential sales process with Joel Mannix at Christie & Co, the practice has been purchased by cousins, Ushadevi Vijayakumar and Surya Somasundaram, who also own The Family Dental Practice in Gorebridge.
Abraham McCarthy, the former owner of Duddingston Park, comments, “I acquired Duddingston Park in 2019, and over that time, it has been incredibly rewarding to see it evolve from a predominantly NHS clinic into a modern, mixed practice offering a broad range of high‑quality dentistry. The decision to sell was driven by my desire to focus on other business opportunities, but it was vital to me that the practice’s legacy is carried forward. I’m confident the new owners will continue to look after patients with the same care and commitment, and I wish the team and patients every success for the future.”
Surya Somasundaram, the new owner of Duddingston Park, comments, “Several factors attracted us to this opportunity. First and foremost, it was the location as the practice is situated within a thriving residential community, with strong demand for high-quality dental care and excellent long-term demographics. The premises themselves were particularly appealing, as they offer significant scope for growth and development without the need for major structural changes. We saw an opportunity to build upon an already established patient base while fully utilising the existing infrastructure. The combination of a well-positioned practice, untapped capacity, and growing demand for both NHS and private dental services made this a very attractive acquisition.

In the short term, we plan to expand clinical capacity and fully utilise the existing surgeries and infrastructure. Our long-term objective is to create a centre of excellence that combines NHS and private dentistry, specialist services, and a first-class patient experience, providing local families with access to a wider range of treatments closer to home.”
