Dentaid The Dental Charity has celebrated its 30th anniversary at a special event in London, bringing together supporters from across the dental community.

The charity welcomed more than 100 guests to a reception at The Skyline, near Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, on Thursday 9th July.

Guests at the event included corporate partners who have helped to support Dentaid’s work in delivering care to under-served communities in the UK and overseas, representatives from industry bodies including the Chief Dental Officer for England, Jason Wong, charity trustees, the  MP in the New Forest constituency where Dentaid is based, Julian Lewis, and some of the charity’s longest-serving volunteers who have used their time to provide care to people experiencing homelessness, harm, poverty and abuse.

Dentaid’s chairman Crispin Keanie, chief executive officer Andy Evans and head of fundraising and communications Jill Harding gave speeches highlighting the charity’s three-decade journey, which began in 1996 when volunteer dentists refurbished and transported dental equipment for use overseas in countries with limited access to dentistry.

Since then, Dentaid’s work has provided care to people in more than 70 different countries across Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe, while also supporting thousands of vulnerable people in the UK through its fleet of mobile dental units. These visit settings across the UK to support vulnerable people with free treatment and oral health advice.

Andy Evans, CEO of Dentaid The Dental Charity, said:

“It was wonderful having the opportunity to celebrate such an important milestone with those who have helped Dentaid to grow and develop into the success that it is today.

“Having an event like this meant we could personally thank those whose hard work and vision have brought us to where we are today. Whether that’s volunteering their time on our clinics here and overseas, supplying funding or donating items to help our work, or supporting our cause in other ways, their generosity goes a long way.

“We are looking forward to the next 30 years and to helping change more lives through dental care.”

The event is the latest in a series of 30th anniversary milestones for Dentaid in 2026. In April the charity brought its 12th mobile dental unit into use, named Freja and kindly supported by TePe. June saw the launch of Dentaid’s fourth charity hub, based in County Durham and serving communities across the North East of England, while in July Dentaid’s BrightBites oral health education programme, provided with partners Denplan, had reached more than 250,000 children across the country.
