The Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) is proud to announce Dr Nyaradzo Mutezo as a recipient of its prestigious scholarship – an award that marks a significant milestone in a career driven by purpose, community, and a commitment to increasing access to high-quality dental implant care.

With almost a decade in general dentistry, Dr Mutezo is now undertaking an MSc in Implantology at the University of Bristol. “The ADI scholarship is both affirming and deeply meaningful to me,” she says. “It reassures me that I am on the right path.”

Beyond the financial support, Dr Mutezo is particularly excited about the mentorship and community the ADI provides, drawing on the Zimbabwean philosophy of ubuntu – that in community, humanity can achieve greatness.

Her ambitions extend beyond clinical practice. She hopes to inspire others from African and Afro-Caribbean backgrounds into implant dentistry – adding, “This can help improve access to care within these communities,” – and to mentor young students in her home community of Nyanyadzi, Zimbabwe.

“I would unreservedly encourage others to take that step,” she says. “Your goals are valid, and your perspective has value.”
