Community Dental Services CIC (CDS) has successfully completed the refurbishment of their two dental surgeries based at Ilkeston Hospital, marking another milestone in its ongoing investment in patient care and experience.
As a social enterprise, CDS reinvests any surplus directly back into patient care, oral health improvement, and community-based projects. The newly refurbished Ilkeston surgeries benefit from modernised dental equipment, improved clinical environments and upgraded facilities, all designed to enhance patient comfort and support the delivery of safe, high-quality dental care. One surgery is also equipped with a dental chair on a ‘shifter base’, allowing it to be easily repositioned to create greater space and accessibility for patients in wheelchairs.
Nicola Milner, Chief Operating Officer (Midlands) said: “The refurbishment of these surgeries demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering excellent care in safe, modern, and welcoming environments. Every investment we make supports our wider social purpose, ensuring that the communities we serve directly benefit from improved facilities and enhanced patient experiences.”
CDS is an employee-owned social enterprise providing referral-only dental care for people who traditional dental services may not always be able to support. Patients often have complex additional needs, including learning disabilities, mental health conditions, or complex medical issues. Services are offered to both adults and children and frequently require specialist equipment such as bariatric dental chairs and wheelchair tippers to ensure inclusive, dignified, and accessible care for all.
