The Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) has partnered with Oral-B Professional to produce a new educational patient leaflet and video focused on peri-implant disease – one of the most common post-surgical complications associated with dental implants.

Peri-implant disease affects approximately 20% of patients who have received dental implants. Despite this, patient awareness of the condition and the role of home care in preventing it remains low. The new resources – a printed leaflet designed for use in practice and an accompanying video featuring three leading clinicians – aim to address this gap by giving patients clear, evidence-based guidance they can refer to between appointments.

Speaking about the collaboration, Linzy Baker, Dental Hygienist & Therapist and ADI board member, said: “We want to make sure we are delivering evidence-based care options so that patients can look after their dental implants to the best of their ability.”

Payvand Menhadji, Specialist Periodontist and ADI board member, commented: “In consultations we give so much information and sometimes it can go over the patient’s head. By giving them a leaflet, the key messages are written down so they can take it home and refer back to it when they need to.”

The leaflet and video are available to access here.
