At BDIA Dental Showcase 2026, principals had access to a wealth of education, industry updates, and inspiration, designed specifically to support them in their role. The Business Theatre two-day programme was varied, dynamic, and informative, exploring a broad range of topics relevant to practice owners and managers.
Among the stand out sessions, a lecture on building resilience in the face of diversity resonated with the crowd, as Dr Jin J Vaghela and Dr Kish Patel shared their inspiring story. The insightful session explored the challenges they had faced, the obstacles they had overcome, and the unique ways in which they succeeded, affording attendees a fresh yet humble perspective on what it takes to make it in dentistry.
Attendee Sachin Naik, commented:
“This session was really informative, very inspiring for someone new to the profession who wants to grow. Good insight into how to try to make progress and achieve your goals, the mindset to have, the right behaviours and way of thinking. It’s about benefiting others, not about money. It’s about changing the face of dentistry. Would for sure recommend the business talks.”
Sharing his own journey of success, Dr Neil Harris took to the stage to discuss how he unlocked the potential of his business by implementing innovative digital technology. Sponsored by SprintRay, he put a spotlight on how 3D printing changed his clinical workflows and elevated the quality of his patient care.
After the session, attendee Roger Scholes said:
“Excellent! Neil is a brilliant educator and very enthusiastic about his subject – he has deep background knowledge. The event, as always, is excellent. I always love BDIA Dental Showcase.”
Dr Mohamad Saad from Toothpick also delivered an engaging session that considered the need to integrate various procurement processes in order to elevate efficiency and cost savings for practices. In particular, he looked at how principals can use innovative software to better manage procurement and patient payments for enhanced cashflow.
Dr Gyulhan Mehmedov reflected on the session saying:
“It provided useful content and new ideas, helping me to think about automation in the practice to improve my quality of life. I’m at BDIA Dental Showcase to discover this kind of new equipment, to socialise and network – it’s great to learn about new products and gain CPD. This event has everything.”
Highlighting another important aspect of effective dental business today, the programme also looked at the impact of communication among team members. In particular, Lisa Bainham, Chairperson for the Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM), and Mark Topley, Founder of Exceptional Team Performance, talked about the importance of confident interactions between practice managers and owners. Practical advice and top tips were shared to help everyone enhance this aspect of their practices.
Beyond the Business Theatre, BDIA Dental Showcase hosted an exclusive CDO Theatre, providing the only platform for direct interaction between profession and the Chief Dental Officer for England. Much of the programme here was of interest to practice principals and managers, as well as team members. Of particular note was a Q&A with Jason Wong (Chief Dental Officer England), Ali Sparke (Director for Dentistry, Community Pharmacy and Optometry, NHS England), and Martin Woodrow (Chief Executive, British Dental Association), which explored the latest contract reforms in detail. Audience participation enabled individuals to ask their own questions and hear different perspectives on what each change may mean for them, their business, team, and patients.
A later discussion around skill mix also considered how the NHS 10 Year Plan fits into all this, and how team members can help practices deliver exceptional patient care within future frameworks.
Attendee Anna Smith commented:
“This session offered great content, and I loved the audience questions at the end. It was informative and not too long. It’s amazing to have the input of these speakers, talking about something so fresh and so important.”
Over on the BDIA Main Stage, which was sponsored by Oral-B, a “Leadership in motion” panel discussion was also very well received, celebrating four incredible women for their dedication to, and achievements within, dentistry – Sarah Hurley CBE, Fiona Sandom MBE, Roz McMullan OBE, and Linda Greenwall MBE.
About the talk, attendee Karen Gangotra, said:
“As a leader, all topics resonated with me – a very interesting, informative, and encouraging talk. The whole event has been good, with many companies showing up-to-date things and I love the free lectures.”
As if all this wasn’t enough, BDIA Dental Showcase also presented a unique guest speaker line-up, where AI expert Spencer Kelly, design guru Kelly Hoppen CBE, and ‘Queen of Shops’ Mary Portas OBE offered fresh perspectives from different industries. Thanks to headline sponsors Hello Pearl, Dental Directory, and DeNovo Dental Partners respectively.
The exhibition floor was also the perfect place to browse the latest and greatest innovations available to the profession. From 3D printers to cutting-edge practice management software, new restorative materials, and so much more, attendees had the space to try products for themselves and engage directly with product experts.
All in all, BDIA Dental Showcase put the business of dentistry front and centre, offering diverse support in all areas relating to practice growth, team management, personal development, and wellbeing maintenance. It was the place to discover the solutions and build the network that will drive sustainable business development now and in the future.
