Admetec innovations are changing the game in patient education

Leading clinician Dr Jaz Gulati and award-winning dental therapist Cat Edney co-delivered a high-energy workshop at BDIA Dental Showcase 2026. The dynamic duo put a spotlight on the game-changing potential of the innovative Ergo V loupes and AI-assisted Flamingo camera system from Admetec, in what was the first ever UK practical session featuring these technologies.

Ground-breaking opportunities

Among the many advantages of the Admetec system is the transformative leap it brings to patient communication. On one side of the workshop area, Jaz demonstrated a guided oral examination using the Flamingo camera, sharing exactly what he was seeing with the patient in real‑time. This live feed – shown through AI-powered smart glasses – creates an unprecedented level of clarity for patients.

Verbal explanations of gingival pocketing, enamel chipping or staining are instantly elevated into a fully immersive visual experience that deepens understanding. Jaz described it as a way “to build value” for patients – turning routine conversations into powerful opportunities for improved education, increased treatment acceptance, and more informed consent.

The ability to record the same live feed unlocks even greater potential. Post‑appointment, clinicians can send the refined video to patients as a reminder, motivator for change, or visual explanation of recommended treatment. With AI Cleanup, the recording is automatically polished – any pauses, dead time, or unnecessary moments are removed – creating a clean, continuous video with no extra effort. This means every recording is instantly usable, instantly shareable, and instantly clearer for patients.

This, according to Jaz, “saves time and money.” When combined with the exceptional ergonomics of the Ergo V loupes, Jaz described the result as “a new level of insight, it’s mind-blowing!”

Simultaneously, on the other side of the room, Cat shared her own insights into how the equipment is supporting her day‑to‑day patient care. She led the hands‑on portion of the workshop, guiding attendees as they tested the Ergo V loupes, Ergo and Galilean loupes, and the Flamingo camera and light system while carrying out occlusal composite restorations on models. Participants recorded their work and sent the AI‑edited footage to themselves for later review. They also learned how to capture still images during the procedure and watched these automatically integrate into the final video at the relevant moments.

This practical session highlighted another benefit of Admetec’s technology: its value in self‑reflection and ongoing professional development. The ability to review procedures in detail allows clinicians to understand their technique more clearly and identify areas for refinement, whether for improved outcomes or greater efficiency. Cat noted that these same recordings play a meaningful role in her own training academy, professional presentations, and peer‑to‑peer learning – making the technology a helpful and consistent component across the different areas of her work.

High praise after first-hand experience

The workshop was full of professionals eager to take their patient care to the next level. With real-time insight into the technology’s use chairside, and first-hand experience of the equipment, the hands-on workshop was a standout success for attendees.

After attending, L. Sage commented:

“Jaz and Cat were a great, funny, well-informed team and brilliant lecturers. The content and product were both great – the hands-on really [allowed me] to experience the Flamingo and loupes. The session explained superbly the benefits to clinical practice, patients, and carers in terms of educational value and, of course, for good record keeping and case studies.”

Fellow attendee, Shandy Vijayan, said:

“Great speakers, very interesting to see how patient communication can be elevated.”

Amit Patel also added about the workshop:

“An excellent session with Jaz and Cat.”

A closer look

The Flamingo features a full‑HD camera, integrated headlight, and AI‑powered video editing to support a seamless clinical workflow. All AI‑processed footage is encrypted and securely stored across devices to meet regulatory compliance and can be shared effortlessly via a single link. AI Cleanup automatically removes pauses, dead time, and unnecessary moments to create clear, patient‑friendly videos and high‑quality professional records – saving clinicians time, money, and unnecessary hassle.

The Flamingo integrates with the Ergo V loupes from Admetec, enhancing visualisation while allowing clinicians to maintain a neutral posture throughout consultations and treatment. Comfortable and lightweight, the loupes offer exceptional versatility, with three magnification settings and a range of styles to suit different clinical preferences.

Jed Langley, Managing Director for Admetec, commented:

“We’re thrilled to see so many clinicians embracing innovation in a way that genuinely enhances patient care. This hands‑on workshop was a great chance to demonstrate what the Flamingo system and Ergo V loupes can really do – how they strengthen patient communication, elevate education, and support clinicians in their professional growth and wellbeing. A huge thank you to Cat and Jaz for leading such an engaging, practical session and showing how this technology makes a real difference in everyday practice.”
