A team of passionate cyclists has completed an extraordinary 330-kilometre “Peak to Plains” safari cycle challenge for Bridge2Aid — riding from the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro to the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater — and raising an incredible £90,000 to transform access to dental care and education in rural Tanzania.

Over five physically demanding days, the team battled relentless climbs, high altitude, heat, dust and long remote stretches of road. But every hill conquered and every pedal pushed was powered by purpose: ensuring that no one has to live in unnecessary dental pain.

Thanks to the generosity of more than 1,400 donors, the funds raised will directly support the training and mentoring of Dental Therapists across Tanzania — building sustainable, locally led capacity to deliver emergency and preventive oral healthcare in underserved communities.

Dr Rajan Sharma Evergreen Dentist, Earley, Reading

“As a dentist and a cyclist, the Bridge2Aid ‘Peak to Plains’ ride was a profound journey. Cycling 330 kilometres from the base of Kilimanjaro is a challenge, but the real reward was seeing the destination of our efforts. Witnessing firsthand how the funds we raised are used to train local healthcare workers in Tanzania was a deeply humbling and eye-opening experience. It’s not just about the distance covered; it’s about the lasting impact we can help create. This was an epic adventure for an incredible cause, and I am certain I will do it again.”

Pain With Purpose

This was not a sightseeing tour — it was one of the toughest endurance challenges many of the riders had ever faced. Day after day tested resilience, teamwork and sheer determination.

As Ian Wilson, Co-Founder of Bridge2Aid, reflected during the ride:

“Everybody on this trip understands that even though it’s painful, that every piece of sweat, every bit of pain, every wanting to quit, is literally changing the lives of hundreds and thousands of people here in Tanzania by training Dental Therapists to get their communities out of pain.

We can’t thank you enough for all your efforts and energy into these five days of climbing here in Tanzania.”

The symbolism of the route was powerful. Beginning in the shadow of Africa’s highest peak and finishing on the rim of one of the world’s natural wonders, the journey mirrors Bridge2Aid’s own evolution — climbing challenges, navigating change, and always keeping communities at the heart of its mission.

Turning Pedal Power Into Lasting Impact

Bridge2Aid’s model focuses on long-term, sustainable change. Rather than delivering short-term missions, the charity equips local professionals with the skills and confidence to serve their own communities — multiplying impact year after year.

Each rider’s effort represents thousands of future patients who will be treated locally, safely, and sustainably.

1,400 Donors. One Shared Vision.

This achievement belongs not only to the cyclists but to the entire community behind them — colleagues, friends, families and supporters who gave generously and believed in the mission.

Together, they have demonstrated what collective action can achieve: fewer people living with untreated pain, stronger health systems, and communities empowered to care for themselves.

And this is just the beginning.
