The British Endodontic Society (BES) Inspirational Part-Time Lecturer Award recognises the outstanding skills of endodontic teachers based at UK dental schools. The 2025 award-winner, Dr Nectaria Polycarpou, shares her experience of being nominated for this award, and the impact this has had on her:
“I’m truly honoured to receive the part time inspirational lecturer award from the British Endodontic Society – a society that I have been a long-standing member of. This recognition is particularly special this year because it marks 30 years in dentistry for me. That’s three decades of learning, growing, and connecting with incredible colleagues and students.
“Since becoming a specialist in 2003, I’ve had the privilege of being involved in education, supporting and supervising postgraduate students as they train themselves to become specialists. They inspire me every day, and reading their kind nominations in some ways meant more to me than the actual award itself.
“I am very grateful for the award, to the society, and to all who have supported me along the way – especially women and colleagues from ethnic backgrounds who paved the way for me and those who will come after.
“Here’s to continuing to promote, educate, and advance endodontics and to inspiring one another as we shape the future together!”
