For dental professionals with a passion for development and growth, it is crucial to seek out opportunities for learning and networking. This is relevant for all members of the dental team, with the delivery of excellent patient care often dependent on an effective multi-disciplinary approach. For individuals interested in or already working with dental implants, the fast-paced progression of techniques, concepts and technologies makes constant learning essential.

This endeavour is not without its challenges, especially for team members. Linzy Baker, ADI DCP Representative, comments on some of the hurdles that must be overcome for dental care professionals (DCPs) to thrive in implantology:

“Despite significant growth in the field, there is still a lack of support for DCPs. Implant education at undergraduate level is little to non-existent in some programmes, even though the incidence of patients with implants is increasing. As such, team members leaving dental school and becoming immediately responsible for monitoring implant patients face substantial challenges and a steep learning curve.

“Even some postgraduate courses are taught by practitioners who are not able to tailor the training or go into enough detail about implant maintenance for team members to really benefit from. The examination and oral hygiene support of patients with implants requires a unique approach and professionals must be competent and confident in these techniques in order to deliver excellent care. They need to know what to look for, what the common complications are and how to prevent and manage them. Without adequate training and support, it is very difficult for team members to look after implant patients effectively, which can affect their self-esteem as well as the quality of care they can provide.”

To ensure exceptional learning opportunities in the field at BDIA Dental Showcase, the event is delighted to have once again partnered with the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI). The ADI Implantology Zone will afford a dedicated space within the extension exhibition just for implant-related product, technology and service providers. This will be the perfect place to focus on building relationships and exploring innovations solutions in the field, as well as interacting with product specialists for valuable advice and guidance.

The ADI Implantology Theatre will also return to the event, offering two-days of implant-specific education and inspiration. A number of leading names will take to the podium to impart wisdom and share experience, including various members of the ADI Board.

Linzy will be among them. She reflects on the benefits of having access to ADI supported education at BDIA Dental Showcase 2026:

“The ADI is committed to offering education for the whole team. I have personally learnt so much from attending and hosting ADI events, allowing me to better engage with and care for patients receiving implant and grafting procedures. The ADI Implantology Theatre provides all team members with easy access to more of the same, even in a year without the ADI Team Congress.”

An array of topics will be discussed within the Theatre, from implant maintenance challenges to common clinical complications, different surgical techniques, career development in the field and so much more. There will also be a chance to engage with speakers and various ADI members, who will be only too happy to share experiences, offer advice and welcome new members into the implant family.

This echoes the broader community that is built across BDIA Dental Showcase, where all team members can access education and engage with colleagues from all corners of the profession. As the largest and longest-running dental exhibition in the UK, it is a must in the dental calendar.

About her own experience of the event in previous years, Linzy adds:

“BDIA Dental Showcase provides a wide range of topics hosting free-to-attend seminars and in-person CPD. It is always a great way to connect with colleagues and friends as well as engage with trade and learn about the latest products. I love the networking opportunities available and love to meet new people. Those seeking to learn about implant dentistry or improve their knowledge in the area will be able to do so here, as well as ask any burning questions to the speakers. Dentistry is forever changing – ensuring you are up-to-scratch with current knowledge and protocols will always put you at the top of your game and able to serve your patients to the highest of standards.”
