In the continuing effort to promote and advance the discipline of endodontics, the British Endodontic Society (BES) has long felt the need for a framework document to be produced to set a reference point to guide all levels of practitioners to deliver good endodontic care.

As such, the BES has produced A Guide to Good Endodontic Practice, which reviews fundamental principles and takes the reader through the decision-making process, leading to the relevant endodontic intervention. The Guide covers a broad range of topics, including assessing case difficulty, record keeping, and management of endodontic emergencies, in addition to a dedicated section exploring vital pulp treatment.

Since its publication, a number of European endodontic societies have begun, or expressed interest in, translating the document into their respective languages, so that it might be disseminated more widely.
