Nicolas Ploquin

The Supervisory Board of Finapolline, the parent company of Acteon, has announced the appointment of Nicolas Ploquin as CEO of Acteon. He succeeds Markus Boehringer, who has held this role since January 2024.

Markus will stay with Acteon as Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Under Markus leadership, Acteon has reached several major milestones such as:

  • Strengthening its position in the growing dental anesthetic market with the joint acquisition with Septodont of Inibsa, a global leader in the production of dental anesthetics.
  • Launching three new products into the dental market such as X-MIND Optima 3D, an ultra-compact CBCT; OPUS, a complete prophylaxis station for advanced cleaning and controlled polishing, as well as C20, an ultra-ergonomic HD intra-oral camera.
  • Maximizing industrial synergies of production between the Mérignac (France) and Milan (Italy) sites.

With recognised leadership and over 25 years of experience in the healthcare services and Medtech sectors, both in France and internationally, Nicolas Ploquin’s ambition will be to develop and expand Acteon’s position as a leader in its key market segments (prophylaxis, imaging, consumables) by continuing the Group’s commercial acceleration and operational improvement plan. He will be responsible for driving the evolution of Acteon’s product portfolio, ensuring a continuous flow of innovation which will support dental practices becoming more efficient and improving patient care. He will continue focussing on Acteon’s recognized excellence in R&D, quality, and industrial know-how to support the intensification of commercial activity and the Group’s international reach. Finally, his missions will also include optimizing the company’s performance, by strengthening the efficiency of operations and embedding this approach in a logic of sustainability.

In his new role, Nicolas can count on the support of Markus Boehringer who, as Vice-Chairman, will continue to provide his strategic expertise and support, particularly in guiding the further development of Acteon’s anesthetics business, as well as in driving R&D and product innovation.

Nicolas Ploquin (52) was previously Group CEO of Mercurius Health, a leading European player in oncology, specializing in radiotherapy and nuclear medicine. He was also President Europe and South America at Unilabs, a leader in medical diagnostics, after having managed France during the Covid-19 crisis. He previously spent more than 15 years within the American medtech group Johnson & Johnson Medical, holding executive positions in France, Mexico, Turkey, and Switzerland. Nicolas is a graduate of EDHEC Business School (1996) and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School (2004).

Thierry Coloigner, CEO of DENTRESSANGLE, said: “We are delighted to welcome Nicolas Ploquin as the new CEO of Acteon. He brings with him an exceptional international background and deep expertise in the healthcare sector. His recognized leadership, both at J&J Medical, Unilabs, particularly during the Covid-19 crisis, and most recently at Mercurius, will be a tremendous asset in accelerating Acteon’s growth and continuing launching new products. In his new role, Nicolas will work closely with Markus Boehringer to develop and expand Acteon’s position as a leader across its key market segments.”

Nicolas Ploquin, CEO of Acteon, commented: “I am very happy to be joining Acteon and to take on the responsibility of growing such an iconic company in the dental sector, recognized for the quality of its products and its capacity for innovation. I look forward to accelerating the launch of new solutions supporting dental practitioners in delivering better patient care and advancing oral health for tens of millions of people worldwide. I’m also thrilled to have Markus on board and to capitalize on his extensive experience.”

Markus Boehringer, Vice-Charmain of Acteon Supervisory Board, added: “After leading the launch of several outstanding products and the successful joint acquisition of Inibsa, I am delighted to hand over the leadership of Acteon to Nicolas as my successor as CEO. I now look forward to being the Vice-Chairman of the Group, where my focus will be on supporting the company’s further growth and development and serving as a strategic resource for Nicolas and his team”.
