A new mydentist practice, in Avalon House, St Catherine’s Court (opposite Hylton Riverside Retail Park) was officially launched by Practice Manager, Lynsey Warrener, and her team on 29 July 2025, with a special visit from Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Ehthesham Haque, who joined the celebrations.
After a project lasting just over three years, the move marks a substantial enhancement for the circa 18,000+ patients of mydentist in the communities of Southwick, Whitburn and the surrounding areas, who will now benefit from a modern, state-of-the-art practice. Alongside this, patients will also be able to access a greater range of dental treatments and technology, as well as benefiting from parking facilities and enhanced opening hours.
With patient appointments now underway, there are 15 surgeries available in total at the new mydentist practice at Avalon House, with key services offered to its patients, including NHS dental care, affordable private treatment options via the mydentist {my}options service, hygiene, and cosmetic services such as whitening, teeth straightening and facial aesthetics.
Examinations and emergency appointments for new and existing patients are now available as part of mydentist’s {my}options service, and {my}options private dental care check-ups and hygiene appointments can now be conveniently booked online via the mydentist Avalon House website or by phoning the practice.
Kelly Greathead, mydentist Area Development Manager, commented: “We’ve been working very hard to relocate to a more accessible site in the area, so to see the new practice finally open is fantastic. With 15 modern surgeries we now have much more choice for patients, plus our team are benefitting from improved facilities. The new mydentist Avalon House (previously Southwick) practice is accepting new patients under both NHS and {my}options mydentist’s affordable private dental offering. Under {my}options, patients can access private check-ups, essential dental treatments, and cosmetic dental treatments at affordable prices with check-ups costing £75.
A full range of dental treatments is on offer at the practice including teeth whitening, teeth straightening, hygiene appointments, smile makeovers and dental implants.
