Unlike some competitive single-shade composites, the 3M™ Filtek™ Easy Match Universal Restorative doesn’t need a blocker – instead, its thickness defines its appearance, with dentine-like opacity when greater than 2mm, and enamel-like translucency at thicknesses of 0.5-1mm. Shorter procedures, superior strength
When selecting the correct 3M™ Filtek™ Easy Match Universal Restorative for your patients, intuition and clinical skill is important. However, button matching brings further confidence in each case.
Simply choose the Natural shade, applying a small button of composite onto the tooth awaiting restoration – there is no need to etch or bond at this stage. After manipulating the material to the thickness that will be used at the restorative site, cure, and evaluate the shade under different lighting conditions. If there is a good match, progress with the traditional composite bonding workflow using the Natural shade. Should you find the composite is too light, select the Warm shade, or opt for the Bright shade if Natural appears too dark.
Remove the restorative material from the unetched tooth and continue with the treatment.
Alternatively, a comparison to the VITA classical shade guide can be used, with the corresponding shades available from the Solventum team.
