Dr Sadia Niazi is a member of the British Endodontic Society (BES) council. She shares a little bit about herself and her experience with the BES:
“Endodontology has always appealed to me due to my strong clinical and academic background. As a perfectionist, I deeply admire the precision that our specialty demands. More importantly, my research highlights that successful endodontic treatment not only saves teeth but also significantly enhances patients’ overall health and well-being. This elevates the profile of endodontology and underscores its critical role in promoting general health within healthcare systems.
“As a council member, I feel incredibly privileged to have a platform that allows me to connect with the broader BES community, to shape and influence the future of endodontology. Driven by my research, I am deeply passionate about raising awareness within our endodontic community regarding the benefits of successful endodontic treatment in enhancing general health. This will empower dentists to inform, educate, and properly consent their patients for root canal treatment, and improve the standing of our speciality globally.
“I first joined BES in 2009 when I was a PhD student eager to present my research at the ESE conference. Becoming a BES member was a requirement, but it quickly became much more than that. This membership has been instrumental in my professional journey, and I’m grateful for the support and community it has offered.
“My favourite membership benefit is the incredible opportunity it provides to stay updated on the latest advancements in endodontics. It allows me to network with leading endodontists both in the UK and internationally, showcasing both clinical and research work. Additionally, it opens doors to apply for BES funding opportunities, which has been invaluable to enhance my research and academic growth and contribute to the advancement of endodontics.”
