Pam Swain and Joan Hatchard

British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) Chief Executive Pamela Swain was presented with an MBE by the Princess Royal on Thursday 26 June 2025 at Buckingham Palace.

Pam, who has been BADN’s (formerly ABDSA’s) Chief Executive for 33 years, was awarded the MBE in the 2025 New Year’s Honours, for services to dental nursing.

“BADN is, of course, a team effort,” said Pam. “Not only the head office team of staff, but the team of volunteer dental nurses who make up our Executive Committee, Panel of Representatives and other Committees, Presidents – past and present – and  former Council members.  I was delighted to accept this MBE on behalf of all those who have given their time and expertise to make BADN, the professional association for dental nurses in the UK,  what it is today – a lifeline of information, advice and support for dental nurses.”

Pam was accompanied to the Palace by BADN’s Immediate Past President and long time Council/Executive Committee member Joan Hatchard, and family members.
