The GBT Machine revealed at IDS 2025

EMS, Electro Medical Systems SA, proudly introduces the GBT Machine at IDS 2025, marking the next evolution within the GBT protocol. The brand-new GBT Machine® is the successor to the AIRFLOW® Prophylaxis Master. With over 40 years of expertise behind it, the device is optimized for performing high-level Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) treatments, providing exceptional comfort for both patients and clinicians while enhancing the efficiency and profitability of the hygiene department. The intuitive interface, automatic handpiece recognition, and an automated GBT mode offer seamless operation, an enhanced workflow, optimized efficiency, and minimally invasive treatment. Thanks to a smart connectivity feature, clinicians can supervise treatment and device data on their MyEMS dashboard.

The intuitive user interface with three settings for power and water simplifies the daily workflow. Removing a handpiece automatically activates the GBT mode with optimal power and water settings, preventing over-instrumentation and further reducing powder consumption.¹  The new PIEZON PS NO PAIN® MAX module gradually adapts to the nature of calculus, providing an even more minimally invasive and comfortable treatment for the patient.

Sustainability, Usability, Connectivity

As sustainability is always a core focus for EMS, the GBT Machine® has been designed with 30% less plastic. Aluminum and tempered glass make it easy to clean and disinfect the device. Additionally, the new GBT Machine station has received a design update, making it even sleeker and more elegant. The water bottle now supplies both handpieces, ensuring an enhanced workflow and autonomy.

A new feature also allows for the analysis of treatment and consumption data. Digital connectivity makes the GBT workflow even more efficient. Maintenance needs and remote after-sales support are displayed on the device as well as on a digital, connected dashboard featuring device usage and treatment data. GBT Certified practices benefit from a unique feature: once officially certified, the GBT letters on the device will light up in pink, visibly highlighting their certification and the high standards they fulfill.

Successful with State-of-the-Art

Since 1981, Electro Medical Systems has consistently set new standards with its original Swiss-made products. The GBT Movement is growing worldwide, with GBT-certified practices leading the way in professional prophylaxis. Supported by top-tier training from the Swiss Dental Academy (SDA), these practices leverage the latest scientific and technological advancements to ensure outstanding patient care and economic success. In a globally unique survey with over 400,000 patients, 94.1% preferred prophylaxis with Guided Biofilm Therapy over conventional methods.² A study from the University of Zurich confirms these results.³

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)

The GBT protocol was developed in close collaboration between practitioners and scientists with EMS, Electro Medical Systems S.A. It consists of eight evidence-based treatment steps for prophylaxis as well as non-surgical periodontal and peri-implant therapy. The treatment is minimally invasive and maximally preventive, ensuring the highest level of safety, efficiency, and comfort for both patients and practitioners. Patients love GBT because it is pain-free and provides personalized recommendations for at-home oral hygiene. GBT-certified practices represent success, quality, and the satisfaction of patients, prophylaxis teams, and practice owners. More information is available at ems-dental.com.
