The College of General Dentistry (CGDent) has implemented new functionality enabling visitors to its website to identify individuals who have successfully achieved recognised postgraduate awards.
The new utility enables colleagues, employers and patients to search for those with significant education and training in specific fields of interest, either regionally or nationally, and to have confidence in the validity and credibility of an individual’s award.
The College recognises over 30 specific postgraduate dental qualifications, as well as Postgraduate Certificates, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees and Doctorates in dental subjects and those of wider relevance to the profession. A full list is available at cgdent.uk/recognised-qualifications
In order to be recognised by the College, PgCerts/PgDips must be either university-awarded or equivalent credentials at Level 7 as defined in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (equivalent to Level 11 in Scotland), and must provide respectively 60 or 120 UK credits or an international equivalent.
To perform a search, go to the CGDent Register of Members and Fellows, click ‘By qualification‘ and enter the field of study for which you wish to identify qualified individuals. To narrow results down to one or more specific regions, click ‘By geography‘; otherwise leave this field blank. Then click Search.
