DS Academy’s Implant Curriculum offers end-to-end digital implant workflow solutions through self-paced, highly interactive online learning to provide clinicians with skills to achieve clinical, technical and practice excellence
Dentsply Sirona launched DS Academy’s Implant Curriculum, an interactive collection of dental implant courses designed to help build and expand clinicians’ digital implant skills according to levels of experience and personal learning preferences. Following DS’s recent restaging of its Implants business – providing a complete ecosystem of digital solutions and products, Dentsply Sirona is now offering a comprehensive eight level Implant curriculum consisting of 24 courses, as part of its ongoing commitment to support clinicians in providing the best-possible care for their patients and improving oral health globally.
Interactive, Procedure-Based Series Designed by World Renowned Clinicians
The DS Academy’s tuition-free curriculum provides clinicians with the knowledge, skills and inspiration needed to stay up-to-date and achieve clinical, technical and practice excellence. It was created in collaboration with leading international key opinion leaders and instructional design specialists resulting in an engaging series of interactive, online courses. The virtual courses highlight patient cases and procedures found in everyday clinical practice, and present important concepts in clinical scenarios to teach current implant treatment. This approach is in contrast to conventional dental education that focuses more on didactic topics and theory. “One intent of the curriculum was to improve the quality of care provided by better informed clinicians” says Lyndon F. Cooper, D.D.S., Ph.D., FACP Dean of VCU School of Dentistry “As educators, we sought to engage oral healthcare providers who wanted that knowledge to better care for their dental implant patients. I think the highly illustrated and well referenced materials in this curriculum achieved that goal.”
An Individual Learning Journey to Expand Scope of Implant Options
The extensive Implant Curriculum is designed to help build and expand clinicians’ digital implant skills according to levels of experience and personal learning preferences. Through this self-paced online curriculum, clinicians will be able to learn more about implant dentistry from foundational through mastery levels so those newer to implant dentistry can start from the beginning, while those with more experience can jump further down the learning pathway.
Focused on end-to-end digital implant workflow solutions, the eight levels are grouped into foundational, procedure based and mastery tracks. The foundational track includes topics such as fundamentals of treatment planning, an introduction to intraoral scanning and the essentials of clinical photography. Topics in the procedure-based track range from the single posterior functional zone to a full-arch prosthesis. The mastery track includes topics such as advanced bone grafting and implant complications management. So, wherever the clinician is on their individual learning journey, they can find the educational offering they need in order to advance to the next level.
Along with more than 40 state-of-the art DS Academy education centers around the world, the launch of the new online Implant Curriculum will provide clinicians, including both specialists and general practitioners, with ongoing education and training in end-to-end digital implant workflow solutions to help realize Dentsply Sirona’s vision for digital implant dentistry and provide dental professionals with a new way of practicing implantology.
