Supporting dental professionals

“I joined the BACD’s Ladies Who Do Dentistry event to gain advice, and to hear first-hand how the speakers at the event had successfully got to where they are now,” says Dr Lydia Sharples.  

“The lecturers were all engaging, honest and open. I loved that they shared insight on their successes, but also what they would have done differently within their careers if given the chance. The event was really relaxed, and I thought that the interview style sessions were great because we could ask questions and share our thoughts.

“One of the highlights of the day was listening to two of the speakers explain the business side of dentistry. Dr Janine Brooks discussed the importance of having a supportive network, which is something that Ladies Who Do Dentistry provided. I really enjoyed meeting like-minded dentists that not only included established figures, but also those at the start of their careers like me, who I’ve stayed in touch with since the event.

“I would recommend Ladies Who Do Dentistry to other young dentists, as it provides a great opportunity for you to pick the brains of really successful members of the profession. I’m really looking forward to the next BACD event.”
