The BSDHT congratulates Fiona Ellwood on her BEM!

The British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) is thrilled to announce that (honorary) Vice President, Fiona Ellwood, has recently been awarded a British Empire Medal. Alongside her responsibilities at the BSDHT, Fiona is the patron and is also an Executive Director of the Society of British Dental Nurses (SBDN). She is the immediate past Chair of the National Oral Health Promotion Group as well as a founder of the Dental Professionals Alliance.   

Fiona was recognised with this award due to her unerring passion for the dental nursing profession, and dentistry as a whole. She has helped dental nurses achieve a louder voice within the community, and her mentoring work has led to a much better support culture inside the industry.

In response to receiving this fantastic accolade Fiona said:

“My aspirations for dental nursing have always been to lay the foundations so others can have choices, make informed decisions and doors can be opened.”

So, a big congratulations again to Fiona!
