Encouraging equality in dentistry

Dr Janine Brooks, MBE, was delighted to be a speaker at the BACD’s first ever Ladies Who Do Dentistry event. She explains why she is supportive of the Academy’s membership programme:

“Women are making huge progress within the dental profession and in 2019, they will comprise over 50% of the dental register. They are working within all dental specialties, including cosmetic dentistry. It is important that there is an organisation they can join that underpins this aspect of modern practice.

“The BACD encourages equality, engaging with all dental professionals regardless of their gender, which I believe many women find particularly appealing. The chance to network and take advantage of mentoring opportunities are some of the best aspects of joining the BACD.

“I think it is a fantastic organisation to be part of. The BACD is taking active steps to boost its female membership, which is ultimately a very worthwhile move and one that I’m delighted to support.”
