Staff Changes at the General Dental Council

The General Dental Council’s (GDC) Executive Director, Strategy, Matthew Hill, is set to leave the GDC in August 2019 to take up the role of Chief Executive at the Legal Services Board. Matthew has served the GDC for nearly four years and has helped shape the transformational changes that the Council and Executive have led over that period.
General Dental Council Chair, Dr William Moyes, said:
“I’d like to thank Matthew for his service to the Council. He has made a significant contribution to the progress we have made as an organisation, helping put public safety and confidence at the heart of everything we do. We wish him every success for the future.”
Matthew Hill said:
“It has been a privilege to work with an organisation that is so dedicated to doing the best job it possibly can and that has had the courage to change for the better. While I am looking forward to my new role, I am sad to be leaving the GDC and saying goodbye to many valued colleagues and friends in the world of dentistry and its regulation.”
The regulator is putting in place arrangements to ensure the intense engagement with the profession and other stakeholders that Matthew led will continue and indeed develop further, and that its agenda of continuing to make regulation work better for patients and the profession continues at pace.
