Howard Thomas was a great man, a beloved husband, father and grandfather and a true gentleman that lived life to the full.

Howard had a successful and worthwhile career and simply enjoyed his work. His passion was infectious and everyone that he worked with appreciated his unwavering enthusiasm.

After a degree in Biochemistry, Howard started his career in research and worked on the first artificial kidney at St. Mary’s hospital. Howard then moved on to a career in the pharmaceutical industry with Eli Lilly before becoming Managing Director of Merck UK as well as Vice Chairman of the ABPI.

Nevertheless, Howard’s passion was for natural health products and he dedicated his life to research and development in this area. He set up his own business called Britannia Health Products where he developed Efamol – the world’s very first Evening Primrose oil product and he was later involved in the introduction of Imedeen – the award-winning anti-ageing skincare supplements.

Howard life’s work continued with research into natural products as well as the set up of nutritional supplement companies to improve the wellbeing of both humans and animals. He became the founder and Chairman of Life Plus Europe and in more recent years, Howard became actively involved in the development of oral health products at Oraldent Ltd and carried on his research, which culminated in the introduction of Citrox – nature’s anti-bacterial.

Howard always took an interest in other people, really listening to what they had to say and was extremely generous with his time. He was involved in many health-related organisations and also offered his support and guidance to a number of biotechnology start-up companies.

Howard will be sorely missed but he has left us with a wealth of good memories. Remembering his fabulous sense of humour and a penchant for caffeine, let us raise our coffee cups to Howard Thomas and give thanks for his life.

Every year Howard took up the role of Santa to help raise funds for the “Round Table Children’s Wish” – a worthy cause for the benefit of children and young people with life threatening illnesses. Therefore, rather than sending flowers in remembrance, you are kindly asked to visit the ‘Remembering Howard Thomas Just Giving page’ at: https://www.justgiving.com/remember/599219/Howard-Thomas to make a donation to Howard’s charity of choice. Thank you.
