Speaking at the Dental Technology Showcase (DTS) 2018, Dental Surgeon Craig Parker and Clinical Dental Technician Jonathan Hughes provided an update of the knowledge and experiences they have gained from incorporating Ultaire™ AKP into the digital workflow over the last year.
Craig and Jonathan explained how their ideas for producing a full digital partial denture came about, and how for some years, a suitable material remained the missing link. Therefore, when Solvay Dental 360™ launched Ultaire™ AKP into the UK market last year, they immediately saw how the new polymer would fit into digital workflows and also recognised the chance to offer a viable alternative to metal RPD frames.
Ultaire™ AKP was specifically developed for the fabrication of RPDs (removable partial dentures). It is a high performance, millable polymer, which is metal-free, taste-free and biocompatible. It also offers high machinability and fits perfectly within the digital workflow.
As Jonathan said “Digital is inevitable and although some technicians may find it intimidating, we are still at the beginning of the digital journey in prosthetics, so now is the time to adapt to these technologies and learn new skill sets.”
