A quintet of dentistry’s most well-known consultants will ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise £50,000 for charity.

The ride is being sponsored by Practice Plan, Dental Sky and Wesleyan and aims to raise money for Bridge2Aid, Cancer Research UK and BrushUpUK.

Practice Plan’s own Creative Director, Les Jones, will be joined by four of dentistry’s best-known faces: Sheila Scott, Ashley Latter, Chris Barrow and Simon Tucker – now known as FiveGoForth – on the ride from September 8th to 23rd.

As well as also being able to sponsor the group, members of the public can support them by saddling up and joining them for a section of the ride for a minimum donation.

Les said, “We’ve set ourselves a big target but I’m confident we’ll achieve it; with the networks of family, friends and business colleagues and contacts we each have there is a great opportunity to spread the word far and wide. What’s more, the dental community as a whole is extremely generous.

Everyone has been or will be touched by cancer at some point in their lives, so Cancer Research UK is a charity that everyone can relate to. Every day they are working on potential cures or ways in which people’s lives can be extended and quality of life prolonged.

We also wanted to support some of the fantastic work that is being done within the dental space by BrushUpUK, who work with dental professionals to provide education and guidance to vulnerable groups in society about oral health, and Bridge2Aid.

I’ve been to Tanzania to see and photograph the work Bridge2Aid does there, working with volunteer dentists to train medical officers in basic dentistry so they can relieve thousands of people of pain. It is literally life-changing for the people they treat and support.”
