S3 Sensitivity Science™ is challenging outdated formulation technology with the biggest sensitivity toothpaste breakthrough in 15 years that’s not only endorsed by dental professionals but financially backed by a consortium of 20+ independent practitioners.

The world-first formula achieves what has eluded other toothpaste brands for decades: A complex, effective daily toothpaste combining three, clinically evidenced ingredients for the one in three people living with dental sensitivity*.

This finally solves the issue of sensitive toothpastes containing just one active ingredient offering a single mechanism, forcing people to choose between calming, strengthening or protecting their teeth while leaving 75% of sufferers still in pain**.

Such is the level of confidence in S3 that a consortium of more than 20 independent practitioners have a financial stake in the investment raised so far. This reflects an unusually strong level of belief from the dental profession and underlines how S3 addresses what the industry believes is a significant gap in the market.

S3 Sensitivity Science™ was conceived, developed and perfected by leading experts in the sensitivity and personal care industry: Mick Cox (Global Head of Sensodyne for eight years), Ryan Hale (Life Supplies Co-Founder), Majedeh Mazraei (Sensodyne & Aquafresh Formulator) and James Mishreki (Skin+Me Founder), alongside a group of founding dentists including Dr. Victoria Sampson and Dr. Surina Sehgal.
The result is a toothpaste designed to solve a genuine clinical problem, giving dental professionals greater confidence when recommending a single daily solution; one that removes plaque, fosters gum health and freshens breath.

Scientific breakthrough

The three active ingredients in the patent-pending formulation each address a distinct dimension of sensitivity; confirmed by more than 100 clinical studies. At clinically substantiated doses, the combined ingredients outperform any single-mechanism formula, including head-to-head against bioglass- and arginine-based actives.

Additionally, S3’s formulation is independently validated in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) testing at the University of Reading: It demonstrated up to 100% tubule occlusion and 1.2× greater occlusion when compared to the market leading sensitive brand – a meaningful structural advantage in blocking the pathway to sensitivity-registering nerves. In another independent consumer study, S3 was tested on users of the market leading brand and 90% reported improved sensitivity compared with the market leader.

Most users noticed an improvement in sensitivity within seven days of use. What makes these results so impressive is not just the high percentages, but the fact that the starting baseline comprised users of the market-leading sensitivity brand.

What makes S3 Sensitivity Science™ unique is its patent-pending S3 Repair Technology™ – a three-in-one combination of complimentary active ingredients that come together to deliver a complete approach to sensitive care.

The three clinically validated key ingredients in S3 Sensitivity Science™ are:

  • Potassium nitrate (5% weight-by-weight [w/w]*): Calms sensitive teeth via neuromodulation with more than 50 years of clinical evidence. Formulated at a clinically proven 5% dose, it works directly and quickly to calm sensitive nerves, providing fast relief from sensitivity triggers.
  • Nano-hydroxyapatite (10% w/w): Strengthens enamel and has been clinically shown to outperform other leading sensitivity actives in head-to-head research. Independent SEM testing at the University of Reading confirmed up to 100% tubule occlusion and 1.2× greater occlusion than the market leading sensitive brand, physically sealing exposed dentine and locking potassium nitrate into tubules for sustained, non-washout relief.
  • Biomimetic hydroxyapatite (5% w/w): Protects against future damage by forming a bioactive mineral layer (~9.7 μm) that is chemically matched to natural enamel. It releases calcium and phosphate ions in response to daily acid exposure, supporting ongoing remineralisation.
  • S3 Sensitivity Science™ also contains monofluorophosphate (MFP), a gentler, slow-release form of fluoride that maintains a calm, stable oral environment, ideal for sensitive mouths, alongside SYMGUARD, an antimicrobial system that selectively targets problem-causing bacteria while preserving the conditions needed for mineral replenishment, and prebiotic xylitol to support a healthier oral microbiome.

What the professionals say

Mick Cox, S3 Co-Founder and former VP & Global Business Leader for Sensodyne explains: “Having spent much of my career working in the area of sensitivity, I have been frustrated by the inability to bring true innovation to the category. What excites me about S3 has been the chance to rethink the problem from the ground up and to bring genuinely new science to treating the problem of sensitivity and in so doing, improving the everyday lives of patients.”

Majedeh Mazraei – S3 R&D and former R&D Lead at GSK adds: “By combining multiple modes of action in a new way, we’ve been able to create a formulation that performs differently to anything currently available. From a scientific perspective, this represents a meaningful step forward in how sensitivity can be treated.”

Dentist Dr. Victoria Sampson explains why S3 could be life changing: “Sensitivity is one of the most common things patients raise with me. What stands out about S3 is the Triple Active approach – calm, strengthen and protect – built on genuine science rather than a single ingredient. Most sensitivity toothpastes just mask the problem. S3 goes after the root cause. It calms the pain, while also rebuilding the enamel and laying down a protective layer.”

S3 Sensitivity Science™ is now available for professional recommendation and patient enquiry from www.s3sensitivity.com. RRP £19.99. Clinical summaries, the ingredient dossier and professional information pack are also available on the S3 website.
