BDIA Dental Showcase 2026 saw the introduction of a new LAB Theatre and LAB Zone to its conference programme, founded in conjunction with Skillbond. The move helped to position the dental laboratory at the core of the conversation.
Held across both days at Excel London, the sessions addressed one of the profession’s most persistent challenges: the communication gap between clinicians and dental technicians. As digital workflows have grown more sophisticated, a logical next step would be the advancement of communication between lab and clinician.
The LAB Theatre drew expert speakers working at the cutting-edge of dental technology. Kayleigh Bezzant, speaking on behalf of 3Shape, explored how the latest developments in intraoral scanning can create seamless, AI-assisted workflows that unite clinicians and technicians with shared data and treatment goals. Karl Jensen, with Skillbond, demonstrated how precision components have evolved to meet the demands of modern digital practice, capturing the Labs ethos neatly when he noted that “innovation needs to be meaningful”.
