Dr Dan Holtzclaw will present “The Power of Full Arch” at the upcoming ADI Masterclass: Full-Arch, 30 May at the Royal College of Physicians, London, supported by Noris Medical. He comments:

“It’s important for clinicians to learn the technique for placing pterygoid implants through proper channels. Social media learning is not acceptable. It’s necessary to read the textbooks that discuss pterygoid implants in depth, and take a hands-on, cadaver course that teaches the didactic and clinical aspects of pterygoid implant placement.

“When implemented correctly, an increasing number of studies show that adding pterygoid implants to traditional All-on-4 setups provides statistically superior results in terms of stress distribution in cortical bone, trabecular bone, abutments, prosthetic frameworks, and the implant body itself. Pterygoid implants eliminate cantilevers, which are well documented to be the main problem source for many restorations.

“I am confident that delegates to my session will better understand the rationale for pterygoid implants in dental practice and the risks/benefits they entail.

“Pterygoid implants can be a practice changing procedure and a gateway to more advanced procedures such as zygomatic implants. Once you learn about pterygoid implants, you will never go back to your old ways.”
