Catherine Rutland, the Association of Dental Group’s (ADG) Director of Policy & Clinical Affairs is leaving the ADG from the beginning of March 2026, having served with the Association for two years. Catherine moves on to take up her new role is Non-Executive Director, Member of Council at Medical Protection Society, of which Dental Protection is an important part.
Neil Carmichael, Executive Chair of the ADG said: “Whilst we are sad to be saying goodbye to Catherine, she leaves the ADG with our very best wishes. She has served the ADG superbly over the last two years and the Medical Protection Society will, I am sure now benefit from her insights and judgement in the same way that our Association has. We are comforted by the fact that dentistry is a small world, and we are all working towards the same goals, which are to serve the profession and patients to the best of our abilities – and I know that Catherine will keep up this good work.”
Catherine Rutland has also been appointed as a Trustee for the College of General Dentistry, as well as being Head of Policy at Dentaid.
Catherine Rutland said: “It has been a wonderful period of my professional career working with the ADG team, who despite being small, are hugely agile and impactful. I have learnt so much from the other members of the team and have been proud to be part of several important and meaningful engagements with stakeholders relevant to dentistry – all working together to improve access to care for patients. During my time at the ADG I have also had the pleasure of writing a number of hard-hitting dental policy papers.”
2026 is the 15th anniversary year of the ADG and set to be a year of growth for the Association of Dental Groups (ADG) as membership hits a record 32 Dental Groups. As the trade body representing the dental workforce across the ‘mixed economy’ of NHS, Private and Community-based services, ADG’s purpose since the association’s creation 15 years ago in 2011, is to advocate for UK dental groups by working with stakeholders and policymakers. The leadership of ADG members are often experienced dentists themselves, with involvement in professional and vocational training. Areas of focus include working on sector improvements for dental groups, including sharing consistent best practice, supporting innovation, and encouraging the investment and skills development of all dental professionals.
