With Varkha Rattu at BDIA Dental Showcase 2026

Like many other areas of dentistry, non-surgical periodontal treatment was once quite invasive. However, recent developments have created far more conservative options that yield more effective results, benefiting both patients and clinicians.

Speaking about this in more detail at BDIA Dental Showcase will be Dr Varkha Rattu, presenting on the BDIA Main Stage on behalf of NSK. Entitled “Less Invasive, More Effective: The MINST Revolution”, the session will discuss how Minimally Invasive Non-Surgical Therapy (MINST) is transforming periodontal care. Varkha says:

“It can be challenging for dental professionals to adapt their approach to periodontal care, especially as we naturally rely on the techniques ingrained during our training – methods we have practised for years and feel confident using. However, the field has progressed significantly, and it is essential that we realign our knowledge and skills with contemporary clinical developments. Only then can we ensure we are delivering truly evidence-based periodontal care.

“My session at the BDIA Dental Showcase will examine what it truly means to deliver minimally invasive periodontal therapy, the science underpinning it, and how even subtle refinements to our clinical approach can significantly enhance patient outcomes. We will explore the classification and management of infrabony defects, focusing on approaches that are more respectful of the underlying biological principles.
