The Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) welcomes its new President, Dr Pynadath George. An eminent implant surgeon, Dr George graduated from Liverpool Dental School before becoming a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and completing a Professional Doctorate in Oral Surgery from the University of Edinburgh.
George is a specialist oral surgeon, working in the NHS as a hospital consultant treating various diseases of the mouth, including cancer. He also has a focus on advanced restorative dentistry involving implants. George is a passionate teacher and mentor, helping clinicians tackle challenging cases like full arch rehabilitation and complex bone grafting. This interest brought him into the orbit of the ADI, where he has been a Trustee since 2016. In this time George has supported his predecessors in making great leaps to grow the implantology community, but now is in the driver’s seat to continue this goal himself, stating:
“It is my privilege to take up the ADI Presidency and I feel deeply honoured to head an organisation that sits at the forefront of professional education and clinical excellence in dental implantology. My goal is to keep growing the association, reaching more professionals and furthering the amazing work of all who have come before me. In particular, I have made it my mission to really expand our membership, building an even stronger reputation for the ADI as a progressive, inclusive and forward-thinking organisation. This means welcoming more team members into the community and ensuring there is even more education for everyone to benefit from.
“I would like to continue championing our Next Gen programme, led by Dr Ricky Bhopal, which is a dynamic group committed to advancing the profession and fostering its growth. By empowering dental professionals who are new to the field, we can better provide the support and guidance needed to flourish in this pathway; a passing of the baton that keeps the ADI relevant.
“A further push I would like to see is increasing the numbers of dental hygienists and therapists, dental nurses and dental technicians in our membership. The dentist may place the implant, but it is a massive team effort to get to that stage and maintain results over time, shared across multiple disciplines. By unifying dental professionals under one professional body, we can be more efficient in our communication as we work towards the same goal: a healthy and satisfied patient.
“With the next ADI Team Congress around the corner in April 2027, in Liverpool, this year sees a real focus on membership value. There are Study Clubs across the UK, from London to Warrington and Birmingham to Belfast – each led by some of the finest clinicians in implantology. The ADI is expecting up to 30 Study Clubs in 2026, ensuring that colleagues located in each region of the UK has ample opportunity to attend sessions throughout the year – at no cost to members. Attending these sessions is a fantastic way of growing knowledge and clinical skills, but they are equally cherished for how they connect like-minded professionals and bring the ADI family closer together at a regional level.
“The ADI is the place to be in 2026 and beyond. I cannot wait to see where our next strides take us; the collective passion of this community is a constant source of support and excitement, and I look forward to seeing it grow and grow.”
