Whether you’re a honed athlete, a social ‘park runner’, or just want to do something worthwhile, Bridge2Aid’s 5k4B2A event, in association with BDIA, has something for everyone.
For anyone who hasn’t yet discovered the joy of running, let this event be the kick start you need to begin a training regime and get yourself in shape to face the challenge of completing a 5k on 11th October 2025. For the more experienced amongst you 5k might seem a ‘walk in the park’, but how about a place in a European Marathon or Half Marathon!?
There is no fund raising or entry fee to the event, all that’s required is a £10 donation to Bridge2Aid and in return every participant will be entered into a prize draw in which two lucky winners will be able to choose a place in either a marathon or half marathon in 2026*. But don’t worry, if 26 .2 miles is a few miles too far for you, a 3rd prize of £50 worth of vouchers for LuLu Lemon might be just the inspiration you’re looking for (and you can always donate your marathon place to a friend!).
Shaenna Loughnane is CEO at Bridge2Aid and is asking the dental community, along with their family, friends and anyone else they know, to come together and raise money to support Bridge2Aid’s work. She said, “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with the BDIA for this fantastic event. It’s a great way to spread the word about the incredible work Bridge2Aid is doing in East Africa and the UK and raise vital funds to get more people out of pain. The more people who get involved, the bigger the impact we can have.”
The event is support by the British Dental Industry Association, which has chosen Bridge2Aid as its annual charity partner. Chief Executive Edmund Proffitt is encouraging all dental professionals and industry members to get behind this initiative. “In signing up to 5k4B2A we are encouraging colleagues to get fit, have fun, and contribute directly to improving oral health in developing countries. We’re delighted to partner Bridge2Aid in this great initiative as they not only provide urgent dental care, but also build long-term capacity and resilience in healthcare systems. That’s why we are urging members to come together as part of our wonderful dental community to run (or walk) 5k – an effort that will directly contribute to educating communities about oral health, address immediate dental need, and empower local dental workforces through training and support. Let’s get together to make a great BDIA member contribution to support sustainable access to emergency dental care and oral health education in underserved regions.”
The event is open to everyone and anyone and joining in is easy.

A little about Bridge2Aid
Bridge2Aid is a dental charity whose aim is to share oral health education and enhance the competence of the local dental workforce in Tanzania.
Oral disease affects around 3.5 billion people worldwide, and the pain caused can have devasting effect, compromising the ability to carry out every-day tasks – such as working and attending school, disproportionately impacting the most disadvantaged populations.
Bridge2Aid works in partnership with local dental associations, NGOs, and always with permission and by invitation from the Health Ministries of Tanzania.
