The British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT) has announced its summer fundraising initiative, encouraging members and their networks to participate in Radiotherapy UK’s ‘Miles4Radiotherapy’ challenge.

The campaign holds particular significance for the BADT this year, as its President, Debbie Hemington, has recently become a patient advocate for Radiotherapy UK. Debbie has personal experience with the long-term effects of radiotherapy treatment, making the cause “very close to her heart – and ours,” according to the association.

Radiotherapy UK’s ambitious goal for the summer is to collectively log 160,000 miles. This target aims to highlight the often arduous journeys patients undertake to access essential, life-saving radiotherapy treatment. Every mile recorded through activities like walking, running, cycling, or other forms of movement contributes to raising awareness and securing vital funds for the charity.

This isn’t the first time BADT members have stepped up for a charitable cause. Last year, the association proudly supported the Mouth Cancer Foundation, with its members contributing the most miles overall as a team. The BADT is now hoping to replicate that success in the ‘Miles4Radiotherapy’ challenge.

All BADT members, along with their friends and family, are invited to join the team and log their miles. The association emphasises that all forms of activity count, whether it’s a daily dog walk, a weekend cycle, or even dancing at home.

To participate and support patients across the UK, individuals can sign up through the Race At Your Pace platform and select ‘British Association of Dental Therapists’ as their team: https://app.raceatyourpace.com/groups/Miles4Radiotherapy/2025/7.
