The aesthetic zone is of immense importance to dentists with an interest in implantology. A patient dissatisfied with their smile may have low self-esteem, impacting how they engage in social occasions.[i] With a restored or enhanced smile, quality of life can be improved; implant patients can feel empowered in both their personal and professional lives, approaching each day with confidence.
For dental practitioners, delivering these life-changing treatments is rewarding, but not without challenge. It is these challenges that Dr Cristian Dinu helps his students overcome at the Dinu & Associates Implant Academy, based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Cristian details a concern he has regarding modern implant treatments:
“With all the studies that have been done and all the science behind our clinical decisions, it is a danger that we rely too much on technology. This can make it easier to forget the rules of biology – a much older set of rules than technology. For instance, we may wonder why a patient may think their new implant isn’t perfect, or maybe they react physically in a certain way, perhaps showing signs of recession or inflammation. A lot of these can by explained through biological factors.
“Looking at my students and trainees, they rely on technology for diagnosis and treatment planning, but they need to remember that biology is vital for a reproducible result. This is the most challenging thing right now: we have lots of technology and digital planning, but nothing is perfect unless we respect the rules of human biology.”
Cristian will be attending the ADI Team Congress 2025 to deliver an exciting talk, entitled “Implants in the Aesthetic Zone – Key Factors for Success.” The lecture is an unmissable session for those looking to enhance their understanding and approach to implants, with Cristian expanding:
“The talk will be for all dental professionals, from surgeons to prosthodontists to technicians. It will highlight the many approaches and challenges in the aesthetic zone; in this area you are never be 100% sure when predicting the final outcome. By having an overview of the key factors to consider – bone, implant, soft tissue – we can establish a protocol. Through respecting this protocol we can achieve predictable and reproducible results, ensuring that dental professionals look through both a technological and a biological lens for decision-making and treatment planning.
“The session will be very technical. As well as the rules and factors influencing treatment success, I hope attendees will join me in escaping from the fear of the aesthetic zone. Without that fear, we can better control the risk factors, obtain excellent results, and improve patient satisfaction.”
The ADI Team Congress is held every two years and is a calendar high point for all those with an interest in implantology. For Cristian, this is a highly anticipated event, as he notes:
“This will be my first time at the Team Congress and I am very excited. It is a great honour to speak at such a prestigious conference. The ADI is an essential part of the implant landscape and the Team Congress reflects this: it is always up-to-date on the new trends, new technologies and new possibilities in implantology. All of this information is vital so that we can collectively better treat our patients, and be safe when we do so. The Team Congress helps us be more successful and more predictable with our work, but it also underlines our enjoyment of this beautiful profession also.”
As well as showcasing a wealth of educational lectures and hands-on workshops, the ADI Team Congress is a superb networking opportunity, with Cristian set for a reunion:
“I have a history with the UK as I taught some modules here back in 2015. This year marks a decade of connection with my London friends who I trained with, and I am looking forward to reuniting with them. As well as old friends I am keen to meet new faces – meeting like-minded professionals gives you a shared feeling of pride and accomplishment in your work that is immensely rewarding. It will be an excellent experience.”
Among its bustling timetable of social events, the ADI Team Congress 2025 offers a sumptuous Congress Dinner and the eagerly awaited Industry Party, in which dental professionals can relax, eat, drink, dance and sing their way into the weekend. It’s an occasion you won’t want to miss.
