Matthias Zehnder, Professor of Endodontology at the University of Zürich, will be presenting at the upcoming World Endodontic Congress 11-14th September 2024 in Glasgow. He shares an insight into his work and his session, as well as why he’s looking forward to the event:
I am an endodontist, I do quite a lot of research and teach post-grads here at the university. My research is in diagnostics as well as disinfection and irrigation – this is what I’m going to talk about in my lecture.
Mainly, I will cover the topic of pragmatic endodontics. I treat people in my private practice so, for me, time is money. Because of this, I want to keep my treatments simple but good – I only want to use the tools that make sense, I don’t want to be over mechanised, I just want to provide the patient with a simple straightforward treatment. I will be basing my concepts on the biology of what we treat, and the mechanical but mainly the chemical means that we have to get a clean canal system that can then be filled.
Why should you attend a Congress like this? It’s always fun to meet people from around the world. Also, I believe that the programme this year is very good. The British Endodontic Society helped to put this together – many diverse and interesting topics within endodontology are going to be covered.
I also think that Glasgow is a very underrated city. In my opinion, it’s a lot of fun! It’s a very friendly and upbeat place.
I hope to see you in Glasgow.
